Legion strikes Hard and Often in Surprise OFL Victory

Kanata, ON – Friday the 13th came one day early for Irish Stouts. On
a rain soaked field, under a bitterly cold North-West wind, the French
Foreign Legion squad erupted for 6 touchdowns and 6 interceptions en
route to a 41-12 victory in OFL play.

The Stouts suspected it would be a long hard day when their all-star
receiver Kirk Ireland was under the weather and could not play. When
Legionnaire Mohammed Elabd failed to show, the teams decided to play
3-on-3. This played to the Legion’s advantage as their receivers found
it easier to get open on the field. But the story of this game was the
6 (!) interceptions thrown the by usually reliable Irish QB Paul McRae.
The Stouts failed to generate any kind of team momentum.

There were some questionable calls late in the game — on truly
remarkable receptions by Irish receivers Louis Aubin; and later, Peter
Arseneau in the end-zone. With Yves Charron’s camera in the shop,
neither team could resort to video replay.

Maybe this will be fixed for next game.
