The Ontario government has decided not to install scrubbers on Ontario’s coal-fired power plants largely because the scrubbers will only reduce the deadly pollution coming out of the plants and won’t reduce the carbon dioxide emissions. Is there anything more inane than this? Newsflash, CO2 is NOT a pollutant no matter how much global warming alarmists want us to think it is. It is a healthy component of the atmosphere necessary for plant growth, and as such, responsible for all life on earth.

In addition, it is vital to point out that human activity is only responsible for a small percentage of the CO2 in the atmosphere (perhaps as low as 3.2% of the total). What good does trying to reduce this amount do when we have no control over the other 96%? Remember that CO2 comprises only 0.034% of the atmosphere and has a limited impact on the ‘greenhouse effect’. Most of the greenhouse effect is due to water vapor, which comprises around 5% of the atmosphere. And even the most ardent global warming advocate will tell you we have little or no control over the amount of water vapor in the atmosphere.

It is time to become literate on these issues and start to question exactly what we are being told about global warming.

A concise summation of what actual science says about many of the claims made in “An Inconvenient Truth” can be found here. In his new book, Al wants us to listen to what science has to say on global warming. I heartily agree. And for the alarmists out there, we are talking about respected journals like ‘Nature’ here, not some oil-backed right wing publications or websites.

The biggest problem for the global warming advocates is that the actual data and research are starting to show that global warming is not as prevalent as we have been led to believe. The planet is warming, of that there is no doubt. The cause and extent of the warming and its long term effects are what are in question here. History has shown that warm periods (such as the Medieval Warm Period) are time of great prosperity for the human species while times of cooling (like the Little Ice Age) are times of famine, strife, and disease. It is time to wake up, think for ourselves, and see what the Global Warming Crisis is — a political agenda.
